Week-08 of the Franklinpoll has now been posted. On the bubble hoping to join the dance, USC, Stanford, UAB, San Diego State, South Carolina and Notre Dame. Now in, Dayton, Virgina Tech, UNLV, Northwestern and Michigan.

There is still a lot of games left, so lots could still change, but we are begining to see the elite eight develop:

Last week we posted our final BCS poll for the 2008 season. Needless to say, the BCS is a joke! Why Florida? What about USC, or Texas, or Utah?

The Franklin Poll posted it's first poll for the 2008 NCAA college football season. Complete results are available at www.richardfranklin.com.

USC starts this season as our number one ranked team, followed by Florida, Georgia LSU and Oklahoma rounding out the top five.

Our second week will be posted Wednesday, September 17, 2008.

Week 11 of the Franklin Poll has now been posted at www.richardfranklin.com/franklinpoll. Last week we predicted a major upset in the BCS poll, and Ohio State came through for us! This week should remain interesting as the top five BCS teams are all playing, most on the road.

The ratings for week nine of the NCAA College Football season have now been posted. Last weeks 1st place tie has been replaced by a 2nd place tie, which will be settled Saturday.

The game of the week is Oregon hosting Arizona State, with a link on the poll page for stories and commentary on the game.

Here is our guess for the final top 5!

1. Ohio State, no one else is in there class.

2. Florida State, they lose a close one to Ohio State in BCS bowl.

3. USC, they show Michagan what a statement game really is!

4. Boise State, they show Oklahoma they belong in the BCS.

5. Norte Dame, they finally put a complete game together.

Who is the number one team? Looks like a showdown is developing between USC, Ohio State (see our game of the week comments as Ohio State visits Iowa in a Big Ten (well actually its eleven, but the midwest has always had trouble with numbers! Showdown)), sorry got sidetracked, anyway, as I was saying, a showdown is developing between USC, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida and Louisville. Add West Virgina and LSU to the mix and you have a beauty contest developing that Auburn does not want to lose again!!

Was it true? Reports are that the BCS headquarters was in super party mode during halftime of the UCLA/Stanford game. With Texas losing, UCLA losing, and Georgia already notching a loss in their column, the BCS felt redemption was near.

Alas, it was not to be. With both UCLA and Texas staging comebacks, the BCS is once again staring at a public relations disaster in the face. Four teams are beginning to look like they can survive the season with no losses, which means the season could end after the bowl games with two teams, both from major conferences, with no losses, but only one “national champion”.

No changes expected in Week 9 Rankings

Looking ahead, the only interesting game next Saturday is Boston College at Virginia Tech and Georgia at Florida, so the consensus is that the top ten teams will win, and there will be no changes. However, keep in mind the “consensus” is usually wrong! This is the time of year when college football shows it’s true nature, and the upset starts. Look for some major changes next week as the BCS tries to shape it’s self into something that can be sold to the public.

Of course, even if there are one or two “upsets”, that still leaves the BCS in joke mode. With UCLA at USC shaping up as the game of the century in Los Angeles on December 3, even a UCLA win leaves them heading for the Fiesta Bowl, and the PAC 10 screaming FOUL for the second year in a row. And what about the Georgia/Alabama winner? With the SEC screwed two years running, how long before they say enough and leave the BCS. A Texas versus Virginia Tech Rose Bowl would leave everyone with mud in there mouth, and the Fiesta Bowl match up of Alabama/Georgia winner and an undefeated UCLA claiming the “real” national championship, assuming that anyone buys into the theory that in football you actually have a national champion!

The game of the week for week six is a Pac 10 match up against two unbeaten teams. Look for UCLA to extend it's winning streak to five, and California to figure out how to beat the Los Angeles teams.

Is the BCS a mess?

Everyone has an opinion, but the facts speak pretty loud! The BCS was a mess, is a mess and will continue to be a PR disaster.

Its already week four and a record fourteen teams in the Franklin Poll (www.richardfranklin.com/franklinpoll) are undefeated. Another three BCS teams, not currently ranked are also undefeated.

Sure, in another two weeks UCLA plays California, and LSU could lose tonight, or in another three weeks when they meet up with Florida, and Vanderbilt gets a reality test in two weeks when they play LSU, but that still leaves all the BCS conferences with at least one undefeated team. And that makes another mess of the BCS

Week three was posted the other day at richardfranklin.com/franklinpoll.

I have been busy so was unable to comment on this weeks games.

However, I am looking forward to USC vs Oregon, lets see how good USC really is in this PAC 10 matchup.

Also, can not wait until Monday, when LSU plays Tennessee.

The showdown is here, as Texas tries to finally win a game against a higher ranked team (0-10). Ohio State is looking to establish itself as the premier team to challenge USC for the national title in what would be a true Rose Bowl match up.

Meanwhile, Michigan also wants to show the country that they too can challenge for the BCS title.

But they are all wasting their time and energy. It will be Iowa versus USC with Tennessee becoming this years Auburn.
